Last Light

This photo was taken just after a stunning sunset and is such a sudden change from the full on power of the sunset. To me it brings a sense of calmness back to life. Photo taken at Brighton Beach in South Australia with Nikon D50 DSLR

Trafalgar Square, London. I like how the only color is the red double decker buses.

The Gates. I never really got "the Gates" or hoopla about them, and most of the
street vendors shot better photos of them than I did in my few so-what shots,
BUT they definitely popped in Central Park on this gloomy day after the snowfall.

This isn't a perfect example of what Vin is looking for, but it is exactly what came out of the camera, so I thought it an interesting approach to the assignment. What do you think? Criticism won't hurt my self esteem and we need to talk more!

Challenge #13: A Touch of Color
Ends: Sunday, Dec 3rd 6:00 PM EST

Color does not have to permeate an entire image to be effective. The impact of a small area of isolated color can have a dramatic effect on an entire composition.

Challenge #11: Color and Contrast
Ends: Sunday, Sep 19th 6:00 PM EST

Bright contrasting colors not only draw attention, but often they give the feeling of exuberance and vitality.

Interesting Color Facts:
  • The greatest contrast occurs when a primary color is placed alongside another primary color (Red, Blue, Yellow)
  • Another type of contrast occurs when a primary color and its complementary are juxtaposed. (Blue with orange, Red with Green, Yellow with Magenta)
